Description

DCL modulating electric actuators are designed for S4 intermittent periodic duty, operating in sequential, identical cycles of starting, running, and resting under rated load conditions. Because frequent starts generate high inrush current and increased temperature rise, improperly designed motors can easily trigger thermal overload protection, leading to unintended shutdowns and excessive surface temperatures. DCL actuators are specifically engineered to withstand high-frequency starting conditions, ensuring stable operation without overheating.

Equipped with a smart control pack, DCL modulating electric actuators accept 4–20 mA or 2–10 V input control signals. Variations in the input signal produce precise, proportional positioning of the actuator output drive. At the same time, a 4–20 mA position feedback signal is provided as standard, accurately reflecting the actual output position. In the event of motor power being available but loss of the control signal, the actuator can be configured to fail closed, fail open, or fail in last position, ensuring system safety and reliability.

The smart control pack is fully potted to protect internal electronics from vibration, humidity, and harsh operating environments. The actuator has successfully passed rigorous EMC testing, including EFT, ESD, and surge immunity tests, and is CSA certified, complying with UL and CSA standards.
