DCL explosion-proof electric actuators can be equipped with an optional built-in over-torque protection system.
If valves on hazardous-duty pipelines seize up due to medium crystallization or foreign particulate contaminants, pipeline torque will surge sharply toward the pre-set threshold. The torque switch instantly cuts off the power supply circuit to avoid valve stem fracture and protect the internal gear transmission assembly against overload failure.
Meanwhile, high-sensitivity PTC thermal protectors are embedded directly inside the motor windings. Should the motor stall abnormally and winding temperature rise to 105°C, the circuit will be automatically de-energized. Power supply restores automatically once the winding temperature drops back to 80–90°C, forming a reliable dual mechanical and electrical safety protection barrier.
Designed for explosive gas and dust atmospheres excluding coal mine applications, these actuators meet the demands of over 90% explosive hazardous environments.
To fundamentally block flame escape, the motor chamber, electronic component compartment and wiring terminal compartment are all fabricated in compliance with stringent Exd flameproof standards. Precision circular fitting tolerances are adopted for all flameproof joints.
With rigorously optimized clearance and width of flameproof joints, the robust die-cast aluminum alloy housing can resist extreme instantaneous pressure generated by internal explosions without structural failure, fully isolating internal ignition sparks.
The actuators carry IP68 ingress protection rating and full North American CSA certification, complying with ANSI/UL 60079-1 and CSA C22.2 No.30. They fully conform to both Division and Zone hazardous area standards for Class I Division 1 and Class I Zone 1 locations.
